Latest News from Ark Photography : November 5th

Gold WinnerArk Photography has just been awarded a gold and seven silver awards in the final heat of the Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) /RSA National Awards Competition. Just thought I’d fill you in on a little more info about the IPPA and the National Awards Competition! A lot of facts and bits of info coming your way so brace yourselves :-) The Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) founded in 1949, is a qualified Association and awards Fellowship (F.I.P.P.A), Associateship (A.I.P.P.A) and Licentiateship (L.I.P.P.A) qualifications to its members. With over 350 practising members located throughout the country, the IPPA requires that members adhere to a strict code of conduct and carry out their business dealings in a professional manner.

The IPPA are members of the Federation of European Professional Photographers and are also members of the World Council of Professional Photographers and maintain close links to other associations in Northern Ireland, Britain, Europe and the United States. The National Awards Competition holds four judgings throughout the year and and at the end of the year participants who have scored 4 silvers or higher in a category are asked to submit those prints as a portfolio.

It is these prints that will be part of the final judging to determine the Irish Professional Photographer of the year. So that’s what it’s all about and what I’m working towards.

Making the shortlist maybe even a nice piece of glassware, but mostly it just pushes me to try and get really great shots on every wedding I do, so I can submit quality work.
