ARK_0964It’s always great to see your work in published form instead of floating around in cyberspace. This shoot was for the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) Postgraduate and Undergraduate Prospectus 2011-2012. Two and a half days of shooting and design work by Dara Creative resulted in the following.

The Wicklow 200 Cycle Challenge

June 13th, 2011

0569 0122This had to be the worst day weather wise for anyone taking part in the Wicklow 200 Cycle Challenge in Greystones yesterday 12th June. And if the wind and rain weren’t enough to contend with cyclists had lots and lots of hills to contend with. So hats off to the 33 members of UCD Volunteers Overseas, supported by KPMG, who took-off in the Wicklow 200 two thousand metre cycle challenge from Greystones yesterday. The UCDVO participants will work on charity summer projects this year in Haiti, India, Nicaragua, Tanzania and South Africa. You can check out more about what they do at www.ucdvo.org

KPMG Young Social Innovators

May 11th, 2011

0560 0056With two kids of my own only at the beginning of the education cycle, I wouldn’t have a huge sense of what is available to them when they enter their teens and start to become more involved in the community and hopefully start to engage more with society.

As a kid I remember working with local projects, helping with younger kids just on a really small scale and it was great fun. Maybe because I was giving something back to the community but I’d say mostly because I was hanging out with other kids of my own age and just having a laugh. So today when I turned up at the Young Social Innovators (YSI) supported by KPMG in Citywest, I was blown away by the scale of it all and what was on offer to teenagers between the ages of 15-18.

YSI is all about young people coming together, working within their communities to make a difference. They take an issue of interest to them, come up with an innovative response to it, produce a YSI project, then tell others about their idea, make their pitch and finally take action. You can check out what they’re up to this week on www.youngsocialinnovators.ie.

We Don’t just do Wedding Photography you know…..

April 20th, 2011

cttc bus report 1Most of my blog posts are about weddings, but Ark doesn’t just do weddings you know!!! Commercial work makes up a large part of what I do and although its been tempting to post just weddings, I think its time some of the commercial work got its moment in the limelight too. So from now on you’ll be getting a mix of imagery. This shoot was a job I was on today for CTTC (Coach Tourism and Transport Council), a launch of a Financial Analysis of Ireland’s State-Owned Bus Companies by Mazars Consultants. The brief was simple client needed some images of key figures with the report in front of Government buildings, then release to media.cttc bus report 3cttc bus report 4cttc bus report 2cttc bus report 5

Karol & Siobhan

April 13th, 2011

0550 1011One of my recent weddings took me to Monaghan and Fermanagh to photograph Karol and Siobhan’s wedding on location in Crom Castle and then on to the Cavan Crystal Hotel. I’m always reminded by clients that they don’t want the photography to take over their wedding day and I always make sure couples are back to their guests to mingle well before the dinner bell rings. Karol and Siobhan had an early ceremony, however which gave us the extra time we needed to visit Crom Castle and spend about an hour photographing the bridal party and the bride and groom in one or two locations. It was well worth the time spent and Karol and Siobhan still had time for drinks with their guests before the dinner bell. I’ve posted a few here, but for more check out our facebook page.0550 07900550 07270550 09800550 08600550 08460550 0733

Bright Notes…a really moving and great night!!

April 11th, 2011

bright notes kpmg 4 copybright notes kpmg 1 copy0552_01450552_0135Bright Notes was a recent job I photographed which I have to say was both enjoyable and really quite moving. It was held in the Conrad hotel and organised by KPMG. It all evolved from a new workplace initiative by KPMG in September 2010, based around staff social entrepreneurship called Project Bright. The initiative was aimed at getting staff to identify a social issue and come up with unique solutions that could make a real difference to our community.
The winning idea selected in November 2010 was called Bright Notes and was inspired by the St Agnes Primary School Violin and Orchestra Project . The KPMG team who came up with the concept have a passion for music and wanted to share that passion with young people, therefore they committed to working on this unique event over the last number of months.
The Bright Notes project saw KPMG partnering with the Central Remedial Clinic, Clontarf, which caters for children with multiple disabilities. The aim of the project is to engage the children in music thus gaining confidence through performance and gradually developing a sense of their own contribution to a group. The end result of every bodies hard work culminated in a concert in the Conrad hotel, with a great buzz and sense of excitement and achievement. By the end of the night everyone was cheering and singing along, including myself to a bit of Don’t Stop Believing. Briliant!!!

Another New Address!!

March 22nd, 2011

Last move I promise!!! It’s been a hectic year and we’ve been on the move quite a lot since 2010 hence the lack of blogging. This, however, is the last change of address. Ark photography can now be contacted at 78 Landscape Park, Churchtown, Dublin 14.

Unfortunately the change of address also means there will be a telephone number change from next Monday  the 28th of March from (01) 4506397 to (01) 2164777. My mobile number 087 9160674 will remain the same and I’m always somewhere at the end of it and I can also be contacted the usual way through email at info@arkphotography.ie.

Bear with us while we change over, we’re trying to make this as painless as possible for clients.
